What Sensors and DC Shunts at the Heyi 2025 Russia exhibition?

In 2025, Wenzhou Heyi Electric participated in the Russian Energy Exhibition. At this exhibition, we saw the vast market prospects of Russia. Russia is promoting the development of new energy vehicles. In the past few years, Russia’s electric vehicle market has undergone significant changes. In 2016, only 83 electric cars were sold in Russia, but by 2023, this number had grown to 14,100. This growth reflects the increasing consumer acceptance of electric vehicles, especially hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV). HEVs are the dominant vehicle type in the Russian market because they can switch between electric and fuel power, providing better fuel efficiency and lower emissions.

In terms of charging infrastructure, Russia will have 2,026 charging stations in 2024. Although this number is relatively low, with the implementation of the government’s investment plan and the increase of Chinese brands in the Russian market, the charging infrastructure is expected to expand further. In addition, the report of the International Energy Agency (IEA) pointed out that the deployment of electric vehicles and charging infrastructure is accelerating globally, and this trend will also have a positive impact on the Russian market.

Wenzhou Heyi Electric has specially launched the B-type residual current sensor HYCA series and DC shunt FL-2 series for charging pile construction.

Overview

An important safety function of these devices is monitor of the leakage current of the entire system from Power modules against earth. A defective system can become dangerous for people or cause fires. Before it comes so far, Power modules must be disconnect from the grid. The leakage current contains DC and AC components. Therefore an AC/DC-sensitive monitoring unit is necessary.

The HYCA Series Residual Current Detection Module is widely applicable, especially in public charging stations for electric vehicles, electric motor cycles, electric bicycles, charging fees, and power safety management. It offers simple usage and easy installation.

FL-2 Series DC Shunt

The DC car shunt is actually a low-value resistor. When current flows through the shunt, a millivolt voltage will appear at both ends of it, so a millivolt voltmeter is used to measure this voltage, and then this voltage is converted into current. The measurement of large current is completed. To measure a large DC current, such as tens of amperes, or even larger, hundreds of amperes, there is no ammeter with such a large range to measure the current, what should I do? This requires the use of a shunt. A shunt is an accurate resistor that can pass large currents. When

The types of DC car shunts are distinguished. DC car shunts are mainly divided into external shunts and internal shunts. There are many types of external shunts, such as; FL-2, FL-19, FL-13, FL-21, FL-29, FL-39. Taiwan type, Russian type, Korean type, American type, etc. There are also many internal shunts, but the shape can be customized according to the customer. The shape of the internal shunt is much smaller than that of the external shunt.

Automobile shunt

Principle: Automobile shunt is actually a low-value resistor. It measures current according to the volt-ampere characteristics of the resistor. In industrial applications, it is generally used to measure DC current. When DC current passes through, a voltage drop is generated for the DC ammeter to display; the so-called shunt is to divide a small current to drive the meter indication. The smaller the ratio of the small current (mA) to the current in the large circuit (1A-tens of A), the better the linearity of the ammeter indication reading and the more accurate it is.

Automobile shunt is a small resistor that can pass a large current. Generally, the commonly used 15A or 20A and 35A ammeters require shunts. The impedance of the shunt = the full-scale voltage marked on the meter / the full-scale current of the meter. For example, the shunt resistance of a 20A ammeter = 75mv/20A = 0.00375Ω. After the impedance is constant, according to Ohm’s law U=IR, the current is proportional to the voltage, and the current is linear and the voltage is also linear, so a voltmeter with a full scale of 75mv can be used to display the current current. Therefore, the ammeter used is actually a voltmeter.

The DC ammeter is actually a voltmeter, and the full scale value is generally 75mV. The DC ammeter and the shunt are used in combination. For example: the shunt resistance of the 100A ammeter is 0.75mΩ, then 100A*0.75mΩ=75mV; for example: the shunt resistance of the 50A ammeter is 1.5mΩ, then 50A*1.5mΩ=75mV.
