What is the difference between a split core body and a solid body?
Split core and solid body current transformers are two different types of current transformers, which have some differences in structure and application.
Split core current transformer: Its core is separated and can be easily installed around the terminated power conductor. This design makes installation and maintenance more flexible, especially suitable for occasions with limited space.
Solid body current transformer: It has a solid core with secondary windings wound around it to form a complete ring or ring. This structure allows the current transformer to slide over the power conductor before termination.
Split core current transformer: Due to its split design, it is more suitable for occasions where current measurement is required on existing cables, such as small spaces such as low-voltage drawer cabinets.
Solid body current transformer: It is usually used for measurement or protection occasions with small primary current and capacity of 2.5VA and below, and is mostly used in small spaces such as low-voltage drawer cabinets.
When both are in operation, the secondary side is not allowed to be open circuit, because this will cause the primary current to become the excitation current, causing the magnetic flux and secondary voltage to greatly exceed the normal value, endangering the safety of personnel and equipment.
Both split-core current transformers and solid-core current transformers need to be precisely designed according to the principle of electromagnetic induction to ensure the accuracy of measurement and the reliability of the equipment.
When choosing to use split-core or solid-core current transformers, it is necessary to decide based on specific application requirements, installation space and accuracy requirements.

People use Current transmitter. Why do people use transmitters, in the chillers the air compressors, the generators and the IoT systems? In systems I see chillers, in commercial buildings air compressors in factories and generators, in data centers. The chillers, the air compressors and the generators all have one thing in common. In short devices… Continue reading Why Current Transmitter Matter in Chiller, Air Compressor, and Generator
