HYCA residual current sensor – a correct residual current sensor
The development of new energy vehicles and the significance of charging pile construction
As the representative of green transportation, new energy vehicles have many advantages of energy saving and environmental protection compared with traditional fuel vehicles. And the cost of economy and environmental protection is also very low. New energy vehicles are widely accepted by people. In the era of rapid development of new energy vehicles, charging piles have become an important part of new energy vehicles. In recent years, my country’s new energy vehicles have achieved rapid development. But there are also some problems in this process. The lagging development of charging piles has seriously restricted the development of new energy vehicles. Therefore, it is of great significance to study the selection and installation of charging piles for new energy vehicles.

Charging pile construction standards and development trends
At present, green environmental protection has become the mainstream of the world. Countries around the world have promoted new energy vehicles, and the automobile industry has entered a new new energy stage. However, charging piles, as important supporting facilities for new energy vehicles, have lagged behind in development, which has had a great impact on the promotion of new energy vehicles. Therefore, the current construction of new energy vehicle charging piles is conducive to promoting the development of new energy vehicles.
At present, the charging of new energy vehicles is mainly divided into two methods: whole vehicle charging and battery replacement. Whole vehicle charging is based on the settings of the charging device and the car to perform conductive charging and inductive charging. There is also a battery replacement mode, which is mainly through conductive charging, including AC charging and DC charging. The direction and magnitude of DC current are constant, and the current of AC current will change differently over time. Different charging piles use different charging times and the locations where charging piles are used are also different. In this case, the charging time of the charging pile with DC is long and the charging efficiency is low, generally taking about ten hours. When charging with AC power, due to the scattered charging piles, the maintenance level and difficulty are very high.
An electric car and a high-quality DC charging pile will use residual current sensors, current transformers, shunts, current transmitters and other important electrical components, which play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the system! In this article, I will give a detailed introduction to the current sensor series products of Heyi Electric.

Introduction to HYCA
Wenzhou Heyi Electric is a professional manufacturer of current transformers, current sensors, and current transmitters from Zhejiang, China. The HYCA we designed is a residual current sensor for leakage protection developed specifically for electric vehicle charging, which provides full current sensitivity. Charging electric vehicles using a standard wall socket or wall charging box requires a DC fault current protection device to avoid electric shock. The installed type A residual current circuit breaker (RCCB) cannot identify and deactivate the DC fault current.
Advantage
Small size and small footprint allow integration into compact IC-CPDs to avoid dangerous situations caused by DC fault currents
Protects type A RCCB from saturation
Save expensive Type B RCCD
Volume optimization
Low-cost AC/DC current sensitivity
Protects type A RCCB from saturation
Self-monitoring and testing capabilities
Robust mechanical design suitable for IC-CPD
Feature
Fault current detection in accordance with IEC 62752 or UL 2231 standards
Frequency range DC up to 2 KHz
Load current up to 80 Arms (single phase) or 3 x 32 Arms (three phase)
Switching output 6 mA DC and 30 mA AC (according to IEC 62752)
Integrated self-monitoring and testing functions
Variants with through-opening or integrated main conductor
Differential current range 0~300 mA
Robust mechanical design suitable for IC-CPD environmental requirements (e.g. drop test)
Widely used in harsh electronic environments (e.g., resistance to external magnetic fields)
Leakage Protect Residual current sensor

The current pain points and difficulties of new energy charging piles

A large part of the reason for charging pile failure is that the power protection is not in place. High-quality sensors can detect and troubleshoot safety hazards for us in a timely manner. It can be seen that good sensors can bring good charging piles. Good charging piles not only bring a good user experience, but more importantly, the safety of people’s lives and property.
HYCA series products produced by Heyi Electric have been sold to Austria, Norway, Hungary, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Brazil and other countries, and have won the praise of users. Heyi Electric actively participates in the construction of the world’s new energy industry and contributes to the sustainable development of the world.
