An in-depth analysis of three-phase electrical current transformer(D-363 / DASN series) using the Australian market as an example
HEYI ELECTRICAL’s D-363 and DASN series are three-phase electrical current transformer:
The three-phase current transformer integrates three traditional CTs in a single housing. It supports various mounting methods, including panel, DIN rail , and busbar mounting.
It comes with a hinged terminal cover and is compatible with most MCCBs.
Its rated primary current ranges from approximately 60–630 A (up to 1600/5 on some models), and its secondary output is 5 A/1 A. Accuracy grades include 0.5, 0.2, 0.5S, and 0.2S.
It is suitable for measurement, energy consumption monitoring, and relay protection. It has an operating temperature range of −10°C to 85°C and a flame retardancy rating of VO.

1.Save switch cabinet space and wiring time:
It can be installed very close to the MCCB, which is simpler than the “three split CTs + bracket + wiring” solution and is conducive to the wiring layout of switchgear complete equipment that complies with the AS/NZS 61439 standard .
2.Reduce the probability of wiring errors and shorten debugging time :
The same body outlet and unified identification facilitate quick acceptance after on-site construction is completed
HEYI ‘s current transformers comply with IEC 61869-2/EN 60044-1, etc.
Australia/New Zealand adopts AS 61869.2:2021 (based on IEC 61869-2 with localized modifications), so there is a high degree of compatibility and convertibility in design and type testing.
Starting from May 2021, new and replacement low-voltage complete equipment in Australia and New Zealand must comply with AS/NZS 61439.
The size, creepage/electrical clearance, temperature rise and wiring of three-phase current transformers must be completed in cooperation with the switchgear manufacturer to complete “design verification”.

Selling electrical products in Australia usually requires compliance with the RCM system:
This involves EESS (Electrical Safety, for “in-scope” end-use appliances) and ACMA’s EMC/wireless/telecommunications labeling requirements.
Instrument transformers, as passive components, are mostly used in fixed installations and pose a low electromagnetic radiation risk.
However, supplier registration and compliance labeling procedures must still be followed (ACMA-only suppliers can complete “Responsible Supplier” registration in the EESS database).
It is recommended that the RCM mark and compliance documentation be included on both the nameplate and packaging.
Practical suggestions
List the mapping and differences between the clauses of IEC 61869-2 and AS 61869.2 in the type document;
We work with switchgear partners to produce installation guidelines (busbar dimensions, rail/metal foot fixings, secondary terminal shielding and lead specifications, etc.) in accordance with the “Design Verification” of AS/NZS 61439.
The continued penetration of distributed photovoltaics and energy storage:
By mid-2025, Australia’s cumulative installed capacity of small-scale renewable energy (including rooftop photovoltaics) will exceed 6.05 million units.
Industry reports also indicate that rooftop photovoltaic capacity has exceeded 26 GW, with over 4.1 million systems.
Demand for energy metering and power quality monitoring in industrial and commercial buildings has increased significantly, resulting in limited space in distribution panels and a preference for integrated CT systems.
Data center and power-intensive facility expansion:
The Australian data center power market was valued at approximately $830 million in 2025, with a projected compound annual growth rate of approximately 6% through 2030.
High-density racking is driving an increase in the number of distribution monitoring points, with integrated CTs being widely used in power distribution cabinets and PDUs. ( Mordor Intelligence )
After the mandatory implementation of AS/NZS 61439, a large number of existing distribution rooms were upgraded.
The mining and manufacturing industries prioritize both energy management and protection, preferring higher accuracy levels such as 0.5S/0.2S (the CT accuracy range permitted by the AEMO data field includes 0.2S/0.5S/0.5, etc.).
Wider current range:
Some DASN models cover 1000/5 and 1600/5, suitable for larger MCCB frames;
Accuracy: Provide 0.2S/0.2 to win metrology-grade/high-end energy management projects;
Multiple fixing methods + protective cover:
consistent with local requirements (busbar, guide rail, metal feet), facilitating layout within the cabinet.
Under Australia’s 50 Hz power supply system, AS 61869.2, and AS/NZS 61439, integrated three-phase current transformers offer significant installation and total cost of ownership advantages.
Driven by the dual engines of photovoltaics and data centers, the demand for distribution monitoring points and accuracy levels is still growing.
HEYI’s D-363/DASN series is highly consistent with local regulations and usage habits in terms of specification coverage, accuracy level, and installation flexibility;

In Egypt you must pick the CTs with care. The need is strongest, in Cairo, Alexandria and Suez because the electric grid often changes, gets hot and carries loads. When the CTs are not stable or not accurate the safety system can fail. I have seen that the switchgear, the fuse breakers and the CTs… Continue reading How to Choose the Right Current transformer in Egypt
