HEYI Factory Flexible Rogowski coil NRC
Rogowski coils have been used for the detection and measurement of electric currents for decades. They are based on
a simple principle: an “air-cored” coil is placed around the conductor in a toroidal fashion and the magnetic field
produced by the current induces a voltage in the coil. The voltage output is proportional to the rate of change of current.
This voltage is integrated, thus producing an output proportional to the current.
NRC series
Ø8 screw type flexible Rogowski coil
The NRC series is a new generation of flexible Rogowski coil (Rogowski coil) current sensors , which are especially suitable for measuring in combination with portable devices. NRC coils have different sizes to cope with different
conductors. The new generation of NRC coil strengthens the shielding layer and greatly reduces the influence of
external magnetic fields; it can be directly connected to our rail-mounted and panel-type meters without the need for external integrators. NRC series coils have IP68 protection grade, which is extremely suitable for outdoor use.

FAQ
1. Does the NRC Rogowski coil require an external integrator?
Not always. The NRC flexible Rogowski coil can be directly connected to compatible HEYI rail-mounted and panel-type meters without an external integrator.
For other meters, power analyzers or monitoring devices, an integrator or signal-conditioning module may be required depending on the input specification of the device.
If you plan to use the NRC Rogowski coil with a third-party meter, please provide the meter model and input signal requirements so we can check compatibility.
2. Can the NRC Rogowski coil work with my power meter or energy meter?
Yes, the NRC Rogowski coil can be used in power measurement and energy monitoring systems, but compatibility depends on the input requirements of the meter.
Some meters are designed to accept Rogowski coil signals directly, while others require an integrator or signal converter.
For correct selection, please provide your:
- Meter brand and model
- Input signal requirement
- Measuring current range
- System frequency
We can then recommend a suitable Rogowski coil configuration for your application.
3. What output signals are available for the NRC Rogowski coil?
A Rogowski coil naturally produces a voltage signal related to the rate of change of the measured AC current. The final signal used by the meter depends on the Rogowski coil, integrator and measuring device configuration.
Different power meters may require different input signals, so the output should be selected according to the target measuring system.
If you require a specific output signal, please send us the input specification of your meter. HEYI can evaluate the appropriate solution for your project.
4. How do I choose the correct Rogowski coil size for my cable or busbar?
The correct flexible Rogowski coil size mainly depends on the dimensions of the conductor and the available installation space.
For cables, please provide the cable diameter or the number and size of cables passing through the coil. For busbars, please provide the busbar width, thickness and arrangement.
It is also recommended to provide:
- Cable or busbar dimensions
- Rated operating current
- Maximum expected current
- Available installation space
The flexible structure of the NRC series makes it suitable for large cables, busbars and applications where conventional current transformers are difficult to install.
5. What current range can the NRC Rogowski coil measure?
The NRC Rogowski coil is designed with a wide dynamic range and is suitable for AC current measurement over a broad operating range.
Unlike conventional magnetic-core current transformers, a Rogowski coil does not use an iron core, which makes it particularly suitable for measuring large currents and applications where high current variation may occur.
The correct selection depends on the rated current, maximum current and connected measuring device.
For project selection, please provide your normal operating current and maximum expected current so that we can recommend the appropriate NRC configuration.
