1. How do I choose the right KCT split core current transformer for my cable or busbar?
The correct KCT model mainly depends on the primary current, cable diameter or busbar size, required output signal, and accuracy class. Before ordering, please provide the conductor dimensions and rated current. HEYI can recommend a suitable KCT split core current transformer according to your installation space and electrical requirements.
2. What current ratios and output options are available for the KCT series?
The KCT series is available with different primary current ranges and secondary output options for power measurement and energy monitoring applications. Common output types include mA and low-voltage signals such as 333mV. If your meter or monitoring device has a specific input requirement, please send us the input specification for model selection.
3. Can the KCT split core current transformer work with my energy meter or monitoring system?
Yes. The KCT split core current transformer can be used with compatible energy meters, power meters and energy monitoring systems. The CT output must match the input requirement of the connected device. For OEM projects, customers can provide the meter input type, rated current and conductor size so that HEYI can evaluate the appropriate CT specification.
4. What is the difference between a 333mV output and an mA output split core CT?
A 333mV split core current transformer provides a low-voltage signal and is commonly used with energy meters and monitoring equipment designed for voltage-input CTs. An mA output CT provides a current signal instead. The correct choice depends on the input circuit of your meter, controller or data acquisition device. Always confirm the required input signal before ordering.
5. Can the KCT split core current transformer be installed without disconnecting the existing cable?
Yes. The split-core design allows the KCT current transformer to open and clamp around an existing conductor, so the conductor does not need to be removed from the circuit during installation. This makes it especially suitable for retrofit energy monitoring, electrical panels and existing power distribution systems where installation space and wiring changes are limited.
